Bulldog
Sunday
02-26-06
Although football season is over, we
nevertheless had a full squad of 11 strapping lads show up for Sunday's BullDog
climb.
Rod's camera phone
captures me, Robco, stretching and waving as riders prepare for
departure
at the intersection
of Las Virgenes and Mulholland
Through the tough rock garden
we pedaled until reaching the base of The Dog.
The Roster: Ali,
Matthew, Rod, DavidN, Joe, DavidR, Mitch, & Reuben (John & RogerE,
both on a time schedule, had already started the climb)
Up to the top of Bulldog we
struggled. Then came the descent on Mesa Peak Fireroad to the Corral
Canyon Dirt Parking Lot.

serves as foreground for the view back to some recent fire
damage
that started
in the Corral Canyon parking lot
As we climbed onto
the slickrock area, we could look back and see the Corral Canyon
parking area,
the Mesa Peak
Fireroad we had just descended, and more of the burn area
Beautiful skies form

Although at first
all I saw was a rock "porthole", upon closer observation it is an
Elephant
Rod, Matthew, DavidN and I
became separated from the main group of riders, partly from our stopping to
appreciate the beautiful day and partly due to Rod's front disk brake
caliper losing all hydraulic fluid. With no front braking Rod had to take
it slowly down The Elevator. We then took the Las Virgenes Rd. pavement
back to the cars. There we found a note left by DavidR informing us that
he and Reuben had gone to the Santa Fe Cafe for eats. Of course, we four
remaining riders high-tailed it to the restaurant for our 'just
desserts.'
Rod's cell phone
camera captures the culinary action--
also Jamshyd, wife
Naz and daughter Aila joined us!
Have a great
week.
