Rob's Lake
Tahoe Trip
The Flume
Trail
Wednesday
06-20-07
As promised last week, I am posting
some photos from my Flume Trail ride. I actually took a loop trip
that started with a climb up to Marlette Lake, then a counterclockwise loop
around the lake that included the Tahoe Rim Trail and the Flume
Trail.
A self-portrait at the
trailhead
Aspen and pines line the
fireroad up to the lake
At the top of the climb I
joined up with 3 local female riders....
here is Lisa climbing
Hobart Road towards the start of the Tahoe Rim Trail
Claire, Paulie, and
Lisa--my 3 lovely guides--pose with me at an overlook just off the Tahoe Rim
Trail
From the overlook....an
experimental panoramic photo I digitally stitched from 6 separate
photos.
The photographs were taken
just off the Tahoe Rim Trail at about 8700 feet looking over Marlette Lake in
the foreground and Lake Tahoe in the back. <Scroll to the

After a brief rest we
continued on the Tahoe Rim Trail.
Here is a rocky section
that is reminiscent of sections of our own San Gabriel
Mountains.
Completing the Tahoe Rim
Trail section brought us to the famous Flume Trail
with its amazing
views of Lake Tahoe

lake
Although this is not
from the trail, this is the view we had at sunset
while we had
dinner at a restaurant on the beach on the south shore of Lake
Tahoe.
I took another ride a couple of days
later, very close to where the devastating fire started near the Angora
Lakes.
The Lake Tahoe area offers some great
riding.
