RCY Ride Report
Rogers
Road
Saturday
08-19-06
It was most certainly Roger's
Road on Saturday. Well, at least one-third of it was. Roger was a
third of our small RCY group at the top of Reseda. George and Robco
rounded out the other two-thirds. Being a small group we started out close
to the 7:30 start time under clear, sunny blue skies. We made good time up
to The Hub and then on the entrance to Rogers Road.
George and Roger
arrive at the junction of the 'newer' Rogers entrance trail and the old
trail
As we headed down Rogers Road,
approaching the coast, we were met by and eventually enshrouded by a thick
fog.
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It
sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves
on.

Further down the
trail, George comes upon a loose and rocky
section
Roger approaches the
same section....
....and rides
through it
At The
Bridge: A runner approaches while George rides over the bridge in the
distance below
Reaching the bottom of the
trail, we headed down to the polo fields at Will Rogers State Park, over to
Sunset Boulevard, up Amalfi Drive and finally to the Sullivan Ridge Fireroad at
Camp Josepho. Of course, as we started the long climb up the fireroad, the
sun came out. But fortunately it did not get too hot and the climb went
well [although Roger and George smoked me going up the hill :o( ]. At dirt
Mulholland it was a left turn and a quick ride to the finish of a 22+ mile ride
with a little less than 3 hours of saddle time. A small group but a great
ride!
Out of the fog,
Robco Baggins
