Top of Reseda
Sunday
12-04-05

It was cold and blustery at the top of Reseda on Sunday morning.  Eight RCYers pedaled up to dirt Mulholland where we met a 9th rider--Nelson--who had ridden from his home.  In typical RCY fashion we could not decide which way to go.  Confusion and debauchery reigned.  No one took a leadership role.  Thus we formed a circle, put our all our heads together and mass debated .  Shortly, the debate ended when we pulled out and headed for The Hub.

It might have been the wind and the cold but some of us seemed especially silly and debauched today.

At The Hub, yet again, a decision was difficult to come by.  Tired and spent, the group finally decided to pedal the Eagle Rock Loop.  On the way to Eagle Rock was a little diversion--a ramp/drop off where some of us decided to have some fun.

Finished with our jumping, we completed the loop up to Eagle Rock, around to Eagle Springs and back to The Hub.  After another round-table conference, we headed to the Foundation where views of Santa Monica Bay and surroundings were outstanding.

Believe it or not, as we munched on fruit provided by The Appleman, we had another discussion on which way to go.  It was determined that we should head back towards Mulholland FR but not before a short jaunt down the new 1/2 mile entrance of Rogers Road Singletrack (which was enjoyable and went well) with a quick left turn to return to the fireroad via the old entrance trail.  Here we ran into a bit of a problem.  I suspected that we might have some problems because of last winter's land slide at the old trail entrance, but I am always up for an adventure.

A hillside collapsed: Hikers had created a semblance of a trail for us to walk on and scramble with our bikes.

Back on Trailer Canyon Fireroad, we headed back to the Hub, then down Fireroad 30 with only one detour by Nelson who continued to amaze us with his technical skills, many of which he learned this summer up at a Mammoth Mountain skills class.  Bravo, Nelson!!!

Although Nelson left us at Firegate 30 to head west and back home, the rest of us finally made it back to our cars at the top of Reseda and, except for Joe who apparently had household chores aplenty, the remaining 7 went to our favorite local eatery in Tarzana, The Greystoke Grill, where we are known far and wide for both our appetites and our mouths.

Enjoy your week.
