RCY RIDE
REPORT
Cookies & The Los Robles
Trail
Sunday
12-24-06
My Sunday morning Christmas Eve drive
to the East Coast Bagel parking lot was filled with visions of sugar plums
and chocolate chip cookies. But upon arriving I was dismayed to discover
that before eating, one had to ride! The freshly baked goodies provided by
Sheryl were the dessert, not the appetizer. Dang!
Attesting to the popularity of the
cookies was the fact that we had another massive turnout what with The Others
joining the RCYs. Because there were over 20 people, I am not going to
attempt to name everyone. I'll just post some photos and you can pick out
your favorites. We even had a lot of "roadies" join us. I
just hoped that Sheryl had baked enough
!!!

It was a beautiful
day....starting off cool but quickly warming into the 70's for
Christmas
After regrouping we headed on over to
The Bench at the top of Rosewood. This being the Christmas holiday
season, thoughts might wander to elves and angels and such
age-old conundrums as "how many angels can you fit on the head of a
pin?" But a more appropriate question for us is "how many mountain bikers
can you fit on the Bench at Rosewood?"
The special guest of honor
was RobRo
who celebrated his
70th birthday just yesterday!
The important
question:
can 70 candles fit on
a chocolate chip cookie?
Next we headed down the Rosewood
Trail. A few random shots.....
RogerE rounds a
curve
It was good to see SteveA
leave the pavement to join us in the dirt
BruceB leads Ken down
Rosewood
Audrey leads Kenny down
Rosewood
Another pair of "roadies",
BruceK leads birthday boy RobRo down the trail
At the bottom of Rosewood we followed
the usual route until we came to the always fun Whoop-de-Doos....
BruceB and Sheryl on the
Whoops
Back on the pavement, a mad dash was
made back to the cars for our reward!
Sheryl delights all with
her wonderful cookies....THANK YOU, Sheryl!!!
But don't let me forget to also thank
The Appleman Matthew who nourished us at The Rosewood Bench with his traditional
fruit. But still needing to replace burned calories from our almost 20
mile ride, a large contingent headed on over to East Coast Bagel and The Sea
Casa for some more food and holiday chatter.
Wishing you a most joyous
holiday season....Happy Chanukah or Merry Christmas, or, of course, Festivus for
the Rest of Us,
Robco Baggins
