Five Manly men showed up on a cold overcast morning to climb a new way up to Castle Peak.  Present were RobC, Brian.,Matthew_Appleman, John and Myself.

We went the usual route into Bell Canyon, had to cross a little water, Rob lifted his bike high so that it would not get even a drop of water on it, in the meantime getting his shoes soaked (we understands his priorities).  Eventually we made it onto the pavement and then turned into Flintlock Lane,  where a sign warned us of the steep hill ahead and to use a LOW gear :).  We road the pavement all the way up to the new trailhead that took us with only a little hiking to Naked Man Peak (you have to show up for the ride to hear the whole story) and Castle Peak.  The views were great as usual from these spots.

Down we then went into Ahamanson Ranch and took the fireroad to the single track that connects to Little Baileen,  at this point we had apples provided by none other then Matthew of course.  John and Rob then pulled a Joe and left early (Rob was tired from 4 days of riding in a row, and he also had to play with his new computer:)).  The rest of us went up the single track to Little Baileen and into Cheesboro, connecting into Sulfur Springs trail to Shepherds flat and then back to Bell Canyon via the Broken Spoke Trail (Taco Trail, Gas Pipe).  Once in Bell Canyon we took the Jamshyd Horse Trail (named so because it is short and loose and Jamshyd found it) back to the pavement and quickly to our cars.  It was a beautiful day, the last day before the rain.

Nineteen Manly Mountain Miles and 2700 feet of elevation gain.
