What an amazing turnout for a tough and challenging ride that started and
ended at Caballero Canyon and took us to Sullivan Canyon and back in various
iterations.. The count, as best we were able to establish at the post-ride
lunch, was 19! Including myself, there was Gary, Terry, Audrey, Cheryl,
Jamshyd and family friend Ryan, Rod, Robco, Matthew, Greg, Drex, Andy,
Reuben, George, Shaw, Efi, Issac and Steve L. Whew! What a strain on my
brain! Of all the groups I have ridden with over the years, I must say
that, save for one, this was the best looking group ever! And let me assure
you, that really isn't saying all that much.
I don't really have the time to tell you about how beautiful Sullivan
Canyon is, even with the recent work that has been done to the trail
that has made about half of it less technical. But as Matthew so
eloquently pointed out to me, nature will bring it back to its seemingly
pristine, untouched condition soon enough. The quick version of today's
ride is that we seemed to split into a few different factions, and my
group, after heading down to the bottom of Sullivan chose to take the
Goat Trail up to Sullivan Ridge so we could do horrendous climbing under
the blazing son, instead of riding under the cool canopy of trees in the
canyon below. My group had a combined IQ of 80.
No time for more boys and girls. Off to be with my daughter Ali, who
will shortly be attending the University of Arizona.
