Ahmanson Ranch to Palo Comado Overlook and back through Bell Canyon

Eleven Macho Men showed up at Valley Circle and Bell Canyon Blvd to brave the heat and mountains.  Present were guest member Rueben and his new good buddy Jamshyd, Yoni, George and Joe, Aaron and David, Matthew the appleman, SteveK, MichaelW and myself :)

After A little discussion of course, 'We' decided to head into Ahamson first, it was nice and cool in the beginning, we went up and Jamshyd 'suggested' to go up through Laskey's Mesa (see map)

Yoni, Steve, Michael and Joe, with the rest behind on the way up to the mesa.

Rueben decided to explore an overgrown single track, but quickly returned.

Here the group is making a though decision, To go up Cardiac Hill or to go straight an up the Broken Spoke trail to Shepherds Flat,  Jamshyd then joins the group from the bushes (of  course) and says "what the H***" do what you want Rod,  whose birthday is closest to today.  So straight we went after some whining.

After reaching Shepherds Flat we continued with the single track that took us to the small overlook (overlooks Palo Camado), here we rested ate apples and honey (sounds like new years).

We met a rider, Eddie who has been riding these hills since 1987, Jamshyd managed to quickly piss him off and he said that does not want to be associated with us, when we invited him to join the group :), I am not sure if he was kidding or not :)

We then went down the Bones single track with Eddie in the lead (Joe and George left us at this point) and then back up to the overlook, It sure seemed like a long way up the fire road.  We then backtracked down to Shepherds Flat and down The Broken Spoke Trail.

Below is a montage of all the riders that were left,  this is the famous picture spot coming down this great single track.  This is not quite as Artsy as Rob's picture.

At the bottom of the trail, Jamshyd wanted to do some more climbing (before his trip to Hawaii) so Michael and Rueben continued down the fireroad thinking it would be easier and quicker (they were obviously wrong).  The rest of the group climbed up to Bell canyon, it was getting hot, my thermometer was reading 101 !  We then took the horse trail that Jamshyd found awhile ago (I think we should name it Jamshyd's trail, since he found it and it is loose and short :)).  Now on the pavement, we sped down to our cars in no time,  we arrived 15 to 30 minutes before Michael and Rueben.

Jamshyd, Yoni, Michael, Matthew and Myself went for a well deserved 'bite to eat' at The Habit on Ventura Blvd near Fallbrook,  this was on Yoni's suggestion (every once in a while we have to listen to him).  The food was great and so was the company.  Have a nice week and see you at Vic's place next week.
