Uncle Louie has already written a fine report on today's ride, so I will simply add a few photos to illustrate his words (see below).

As you know, we rode thru the Thousand Oaks area on the Los Robles Trail.   (And as I write this, I am watching the Thousand Oaks Little League baseball team play Curacao in the Little League World Series.  Unfortunately, TO is losing 5-0 in the 4th inning.  Go TO!!)

Back to mountain biking.....as you read from Uncle Louie's report, 6 of us showed up at the East Coast Bagel parking lot which was enveloped in a thick fog for the 7:30 start time.  Those present were.....

Our route took us over fireroads to the base of the switchbacks off Moorpark Road, up the switchbacks, over to the bench, and finally down Rosewood Trail.

Another fine day of riding ended with the trek back on the street plus a detour on dirt to the whoop-de-doos.  Some eats at East Coast Bagel for the 2 Steves and me before returning home.

Have a great week.

Steve's Report

Yes, you read it right – a mountain bike report for your very own Road Rider Louie!  Steve, Andy, Rob, George, Joe and I took off from East Coast Bagels for an almost 20 mile jaunt up, over, through and around the hills and valleys of Thousand Oaks.  We pretty much stayed together most of the way, with a couple of side trips up and down different trails by the more adventurous – and perhaps reckless – of us.  Of course we did the usual trails, climbing up the famous switchbacks and down the Rosewood trail.  Tons and tons of good, clean, All-American fun!

We had a lovely cloud cover in the early part of the ride that did not burn off until near the top of the switchbacks.  When I arrived in the parking lot this morning at about 7:20 a.m., the first thing I saw was Joe wiping down his car.  George followed shortly thereafter and he, too, started wiping down his car.  What a cute and adorable couple of nuts these two wacky guys are!  Ya gotta love ‘em!

The highlight of today’s ride was actually pointed out to me by Rob as we were traveling along Thousand Oaks Boulevard for the trek back to our cars.  There, right before my wonder-filled eyes, big as life and twice as nice, was the local chapter of the Republican Headquarters!  A lonely, solitary tear traced a jagged line down my cheek.  What a great topper for a marvelous ride!

After composing myself, our little group continued on back to our cars.  Steve, Rob and I grabbed a well-deserved bite at East Coast Bagels while George, Joe and Andy headed on home.  I always like this part of the ride best because we get to sit down and talk about life, family, our hopes and dreams and we get to tell dirty jokes and make fun of those who choose not to dine with us.

That’s all for now.  I am off to sit in the spa and shortly after I will be taking my daughter to the airport for her return trip to Arizona and school.  Don’t think it hasn’t been a slice.
