Los Robles Trail
(from East Coast Bagel)
Saturday
09.24.05
Six of us met at the East Coast Bagel
parking lot for the first Saturday ride of the Fall biking season. The
weather was, indeed, fall-like--cool and comfortable. After the initial
ride along the street, we hit the dirt for the fireroad climb towards the
Los Robles Trail. Speedy Joe and George had pedaled on ahead of us but then
Joe got a flat tire. When we rode up to them, George and Joe were busy
changing the tube and "talking insurance, finances, etc." and urged us to
pedal on past.
Rueben leads the fireroad climb
with Vic and Nelson not far behind.
(note that the fireroad had
recently had the mustard cut,
leaving a bed of dried grass to
ride on)
Eventually we arrived at the bottom of
the Los Robles Trail and began the long yet pleasant switchback climb.
Nelson enjoying the climb
At the top of the switchbacks Joe and
George caught up with us and we all continued along the Los Robles Trail
until arriving at The Bench where, after a brief stop to refuel and talk, we
headed down the Rosewood Trail.

appearance,
thrills to the Rosewood descent

downhill
From the bottom of Rosewood we took
pavement the rest of the way back to our vehicles.
I pulled up alongside George to
snap this shot on Thousand Oaks Boulevard
And a closeup of an intensely
happy Joe pedaling along the boulevard
We all arrived safely back at the East
Coast Bagel parking lot with about 18 miles of dirt and pavement under our
tires, ending a splendid Saturday of riding.
